Iowa AG Bird meets with VP Vance, 14 other attorneys general on fraud prevention

Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird met with Vice President JD Vance and 14 other state attorneys general at the White House Tuesday to coordinate strategies against benefits fraud.
Vance organized the meeting to coordinate with state attorneys general on fighting benefits fraud and identify resources states need to address the issue.
According to the Iowa Attorney General’s office, Vance invited state attorneys general to collaborate with the White House Fraud Task Force. Officials discussed how to stop organized criminal syndicates from defrauding taxpayer-funded assistance programs.
“The group highlighted fraud as a critical national crisis driven by criminals taking advantage of American trust, emphasizing that a state-federal partnership can help fight the problem.“When bad actors commit fraud—whether it’s against the government, against businesses, or against individuals, the American taxpayer always ends up on the hook. I’ve been fighting to protect Iowans against fraud for the last four years as attorney general, and I don’t intend to stop. I’m grateful for the time today with Vice President Vance, Andrew Ferguson, Stephen Miller, and the White House Fraud Task force. I’m looking forward to the continued partnership with this administration to keep Iowans hard-earned money where it belongs—going to the programs where people desperately need them and to put criminals who commit fraud where they belong—in prison.”
